MY OWN FATHER NEVER BELIEVED I WOULD SUCCEED AS A PASTOR

During a Father's Day of Honour Service sermon, Pastor David Ibiyeomie of Salvation Ministries recounted his personal journey. He mentioned that his father had never believed he would succeed as a pastor. His family had an Orthodox background, and his uncle, who was also his father's brother, served as a pastor in an Orthodox Church. When Pastor Ibiyeomie eventually became a pastor himself, his father was taken aback and even attempted to dissuade him. Given the challenges his uncle faced as a pastor, his father was skeptical that anything positive would result from his son's decision to pursue a pastoral career.

Pastor Ibiyeomie added, “When I began my ministry, I received no encouragement. I had to motivate myself. People viewed me as a failure.” He also emphasized that trailblazers don't wait for others to propel them forward; they propel themselves.

He concluded by saying when God told Abraham to move out of his father’s house, nobody motivated him to move out. He just moved. He further encouraged the congregation that they shouldn’t wait to be motivated in the pursuit of their purpose. “If you don’t move, they will remove you and if you don’t move, you will never be a mover” – he stated.
